Session/Neuro

We ask you the hardest question twice and measure the difference.

You wear a headband that records your brain signal while you answer a difficult question. We also record your voice and body. Then we coach you, you answer the same question again, and you see both attempts side by side.

The instrument

A soft headband with four sensors.

It takes under a minute to fit, there is no gel, and you can take it off yourself at any point. We use a stage headband in front of a room and a lab headband for one to one sessions.

What a session shows

The same question, answered twice.

First you answer the question as you normally would. Then we coach you. Then you answer it again. The chart below shows what usually changes.

How a session runs

Six steps, about fifty minutes.

You leave with both attempts on video, a written report the same evening, and one breathing technique you can use before any meeting.

  1. CalibrateSixty seconds sitting quietly while the system learns what your signal looks like at rest. Everything afterwards is measured against this.
  2. PerformYou do something real, like your pitch or board update. It is recorded and you do not see the results yet.
  3. PressureWe ask the question you have been dreading, for example an investor saying your numbers do not add up.
  4. ReviewWe look at the recording together and find the points where your signal, voice and body all changed at once.
  5. CoachWe work on your breathing, your focus and what you are telling yourself. This part does not need the headset.
  6. CompareYou answer the same question again, and we go through both attempts side by side.
What you see afterwards

Your first answer against your second.

The line shows how far your brain signal moved away from your resting level. The higher the line, the bigger the reaction.

The evidence

Each part is based on published research.

We only claim what the research shows. The sources are linked below.

Pressure raises stress hormones

Speaking to a panel that is judging you reliably raises cortisol two to four times above baseline.

The headband is accurate

A consumer EEG headband was tested against a laboratory system and measured the same standard brain responses.

Slow breathing calms you

Slow breathing was often followed by more alpha, less theta, and lower arousal and anxiety.

A short exercise is enough

Five minutes a day of breathing with a long out breath improved mood more than the same time spent meditating.

Practising under pressure helps

Practising under pressure reduced performance anxiety and improved performance under stress.

What we will not claim

The headband cannot read your thoughts or tell whether you are nervous or confident. It only shows how your signal changed compared with a minute earlier.

Questions

What people ask before they book.

Does it hurt, and is there gel?

No, and no. It is a soft headband with four dry sensors. It takes under a minute to fit and you can take it off yourself whenever you want.

Can it tell what I am thinking or feeling?

No. It shows that a faint electrical signal changed compared with a minute earlier. What was going on for you comes out of our conversation, not the headset.

Who sees my data?

You and Jade. In a workshop the room only sees what the volunteer has agreed to in writing. If your employer pays, they get an anonymised group summary and never anything about an individual.

What happens to the recording?

The measurements are kept for twelve months unless you ask for less, and you can have everything exported or deleted at any time. The raw signal is not stored unless you ask for it.

Is it part of a Mara subscription?

No. Your practice between sessions happens in Mara, but Neuro itself only runs in a room with Jade.

Is this a medical test?

No. Neuro is performance coaching. It does not diagnose, monitor or treat anything.
